Sometimes the best cards are the simple one, and as you can see, we’re going to Keep It Simple Sista! :). Sometimes people comment that they like the project, but they can’t make it because they don’t have the supplies. Well, if you can cut a square with your paper trimmer, you can make this card. You don’t even have to have a flower stamp. You could substitute a patterned paper. For the pearls, you could use brads or buttons. Whatever you have to use, I promise this card will go together in just a few minutes!
Here’s a fun and cheerful card for a little boy’s birthday! The boat is a die cut from Cricut’s Going Places, but you could use a sticker, stamp, or printed image and cut it out. I hand cut the waves, and the sun is from Cricut’s Doodlecharms, cut at 1.5″ (again, you could use a stamp or printed image cut out). See the fun design on the boat? It was a plain die cut, and then I ran it through an embossing folder to add the fun pattern. The cute face on the sun is a Peachy Keen stamp. Below are the complete instructions. This picture doesn’t show the colors well, but the background of the card is brown, even though the picture almost shows it as a purple shade. Trust me, it looks fine with the red in person :). I like small doilies, because they add a nice touch to a project without any fussing. All this card took was paper, a 4″ doily, 2 flowers secured together with a red metallic heart brad, and red ribbon. Simple, with a cheerful splash of color!
This week, I grabbed an idea from Pinterest and added a few other things to the basic idea. I really struggle making men’s cards sometimes, and this one really seems to work well. I think the Pewter Screw Top Brads add a nice touch :).
Here are the dimensions of the different square panels:
Black card: 8.5″ x 5.5″, folded in half
Gray patterned paper: 4″ x 5.25″
All of the following papers will be matted on black papers. Just cut the black papers slightly larger than the patterned papers.
Striped paper on bottom of the card: 3.75″ x 2.75″
Small striped paper and small beige paper: 2″ x 2.25″
The black circle is 1.5″ and the smaller circle is 1.25″.
